Excellent romantic hotel. Great pool. Great room.
Situated within homes from the 17th and 18th centuries, Castello Banfi - Il Borgo is a luxury hotel built alongside the medieval village of Poggio all Mura. The historical fortress, known today as the Castello Banfi, serves as the hospitality center of the vineyard estate, and the wine-focused property offers a variety of cultural and gastronomic amenities.
Designed by Federico Forquet, one of Italy's most renowned architects, guest rooms and suites feature original furnishings with premium fabrics and exclusive accessories. Mixing large spaces and intimate niches, accommodations provide the setting for guests to indulge in relaxation and pleasure. There are Tuscan style armoires, Nespresso coffee machines, minibars, WiFi, self-regulated heating and air conditioning, and views of the countryside. While bathrooms have double vanities, heated towel racks, and rainfall showers.
For dining, the property has two restaurants with authentic and creative Tuscan cuisine paired with a selection of the property's Castello Banfi wines. La Taverna serves traditional lunches in a historic setting with an ancient vaulted ceiling. While dinners are served in the Sala dei Grappoli, with an elegant and refined atmosphere.
In a space that was once a medieval wine cellar, sits L'Enoteca, a wine bar offering the atmosphere of a Tuscan wine shop with the estate's still and sparkling wines, extra virgin olive oil, Salsa Etrusca, and local artisan food and crafts. Guests can sample the Castello Banfi wines paired with Tuscan prosciutto, and local sheeps' cheeses.
The on-site Castello Banfi's state-of-the-art winery is available for tours. There's also the Museum of Wine and the Bottle within a historic building, plus massages, and an outdoor pool. Concierge services and tailor-made experiences include wine tastings and winery tours, hot air balloon rides, yoga, hiking, bicycle tours on mountain bikes and e-bikes, cooking classes, private tours, and a chef's table.
